Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 – Upon arrival at Hector International Airportin Fargo, North Dakota, you will be transported to your hotel, where you will join your new traveling companions for an evening briefing and meal hosted by your tour director. Overnight: Fargo, North Dakota (D)
Day 2 – The adventure begins with a visit to a replica Viking ship which actually sailed to Norway in 1982. Also located within the Hjemkomst Center is an authentic Stav Kirke. Rounding out the day is dinner and ethnic entertainment at the world’s second largest Sons of Norway. Overnight: Fargo, North Dakota (B, D)
Day 3 – After breakfast, we depart for Jamestown, ND and the National Buffalo Museum – home to a live buffalo herd including two rare authentic albino buffaloes. Stroll through a Frontier Village where you’ll see Louis L’Amour writers shack. In Bismarck we’ll visit the North Dakota Heritage Center and Fort Abraham Lincoln, George Armstrong Custer’s final command post. We’ll end this memorable day with a dinner cruise on the Missouri River . Overnight: Bismarck, North Dakota (B, D)
Day 4 – This morning we’ll travel through the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation and visit the Sherr-Howe Arena, home to 10 awe-inspiring murals painted by Native American artist Oscar Howe, with commentary by a local guide to give us insight into the meaning of each mural. Overnight: Aberdeen, South Dakota (B, L)
Day 5 – Today marks the highlight of this already packed adventure: the Fort Sisseton Festival where we encounter cavalry men, mountain men, Native Americans and every make of man from the 1880’s. Stroll through the grounds of this historic fort and see authentic crafts and unique re-enactments. Our farewell dinner will cap a memorable adventure in East Dakota. Overnight: Watertown, SD (B, D)
Day 6 – After breakfast, we travel to Fargo North Dakota, where we’ll bid a fond farewell to our new friends and a memorable adventure. Airport transfers for afternoon depatures. (B)
