Tour Itinerary
Day # 1 – Airport transfers included. Welcome dinner. Overnight: Fargo, ND (D)
Day # 2 – Visit the Hjemkomst Center to see a 76-foot, hand-built Viking ship which actually sailed to Norway. Dinner and entertainment at the Sons of Norway. Overnight: Fargo. (B, D)
Day #2 – Travel to Jamestown to visit Frontier Village & National Buffalo Museum – hometo a live buffalo herd including three albino buffalo! Stroll through Frontier Village, see Louis L’Amour writers shack. Fort Abraham Lincoln was Lt. Col G.A. Custer’s last assignment before riding off into history. We’ll tour the rebuilt Custer House and learn what life was like at a remote frontier army post. Missouri River dinner cruise. Overnight: Bismarck. (B, D)
Day # 3 – Visit the only park in the National Park System which is set aside to commemorate the Plains Indian: Knife River Indian Villages. The outstanding interpretive center and model earth lodge shed light on the people who continually inhabited this site for as long as 500-600 years ago to 1845. In Medora, tour Theodore Roosevelt National Park, tour the “bully” president’s cabin home, take in a performance of the one-man show “Bully”, enjoy a unique pitchfork fondue and cap the day off with the much-acclaimed Medora Musical. Overnight: Medora. (B, D)
Day # 4 – Medora’s western hospitality continues this morning with breakfast in the Chuckwagon Café. We’ll have ample time to explore the numerous shops and museums (or take an optional trail ride in the park) before heading back east. This afternoon we will visit the Fort Mandan replica where the Corps of Discovery wintered under the watchful eyes of the Mandans and Hidatsas, and the newly expanded Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center which features fascinating interactive displays highlighting the Lewis & Clark Expedition in North Dakota. Overnight: Bismarck. (B,D)
