Tour Itinerary
Day # 1 – Airport transfers are included. Welcome Dinner. Overnight: Tempe, AZ (D)
Day # 2 – Today’s city tour will include a visit to the Heard Museum which contains one of the southwest’s finest collections of Native American art and history, and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument which represents the peak of Hohokam Indian architectural development. Overnight: Tempe. (B)
Day # 3 – Our morning journey brings us to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. Another striking natural attraction on the Navajo Reservation is Canyon de Chelly (pronounced “d’shay”). Canyon lookouts provide excellent views into its 1,000 foot depths. Overnight: Chinle. (B)
Day # 4 – The best way to experience the majesty of the canyon is on a truck tour through the awesome canyons with a knowledgeable native guide. Next we’ll tour the crimson buttes and spires of Monument Valley which have provided the setting for hundreds of Western film classics. A 17-mile scenic drive takes us to some of the best-known landmarks, but we’ll be getting off the beaten path tomorrow for a closer look on a guided tour. Overnight: Goulding’s Lodge & Trading Post, a valley landmark for over 100 years. (B)
Day # 5 – Our morning “jeep” tour includes pictographs and petroglyphs, natural arches, pueblo ruins and window rocks and ends with a desert cookout. Upon ariving at Lake Powell, we’ll take a scenic boat tour to Antelope Canyon. Overnight: Lake Powell Marina. (B, L)
Day # 6 – A half-day journey through more of the huge Navajo Reservation and a stop at historic Cameron Trading Post will bring us to one of the world’s most famous natural wonders, the Grand Canyon. We’ll have free time to explore the South Rim with its many lodges, museums and scenic viewpoints. Overnight: Grand Canyon. (B)
Day # 7 – - Still more magnificent scenery awaits us today as we travel through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon to the charming village of Sedona, known as an up-scale, culture-oriented community with many fine galleries, artists’ studios, shopping areas and restaurants. Overnight: Tempe. (B,D)
Day # 8 – Airport transfers will be provided to Sky Harbor Airport. (B)
