Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 – Airport transfers included.  Tour Pueblo Grande Museum. Welcome dinner. Overnight:  Mesa, AZ. (D)

Day 2 – Travel the scenic Old West Highway to the San Carlos Apache Reservation. Tour the Besh-ba-Gowah Ruins, a 14th century Indian pueblo of more than 300 rooms,  in Historic Globe. Tour the San Carlos Apache Cultural Center and learn to make Acorn Stew (an Apache delicacy) with the elders. A traditional Apache lunch is included. Learn from the Apache Craftsman and study the Sunrise Dance Ceremony. Overnight is at Apache Gold. (L)

Day 3 – Travel up the scenic Salt River Canyon to the White Mountain Apache Nation. Tour Fort Apache. Overnight:   Hon-Dah Resort. (B, D)

Day 4 – Travel to the Navajo Nation where we’ll visit historic Hubbell Trading Post and tour Canyon de Chelly. Overnight:  Chinle. (B)

Day 5 – Travel to the reservation town of Kayenta.  Hear a lecture by a traditional Navajo and take a tour of the Cultural park and Navajo Codetalker Exhibit. Then tour Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, often called the eighth wonder of the world.   Overnight:  Kayenta. (B)

Day 6 – Visit Hopi Cultural Center for a presentation on life on the reservation and a guided tour. Continue to the Grand Canyon, making a stop at the Cameron Indian Trading Post en route. Overnight:  Grand Canyon. (B)

Day 7 – Travel south through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona, where we’ll have free time to explore the charismatic town plus take a jeep tour of the red rock country.   Overnight:  Sedona.  (D)

Day 8 – This morning tour Montezuma’s Castle National Monument, adjacent to the Yavapai Apache Nation. This ruin is five stories high, has 19 rooms and is 90% original.  The visitors center provides exhibits showing the human history of the area.
